In an effort to minimize the negative effects caused by the current Public Health Emergency (COVID-19), the Private Detective Unit has put forth the following:

EXISTING CERTIFICATION HOLDERS
-All existing applicants, license and certification holders who expired during the Public Health Emergency (COVID-19) have been extended until 90 days after the Public Health Emergency is lifted.
-To remain compliant, those certification holders who expired during this Public Health Emergency MUST submit a renewal application that will remain “Pending” until the necessary requirements are met and/or the 90-day Public Health Emergency grace period expires.
-All ARMED Security Officers – MUST abide by pertinent NJ Firearm Laws, Rules and Regulations.
INITIAL SECURITY OFFICERS
-The “special emergency” 60-day First Time Security Officer Applicant Temporary Certification will remain in effect until the Public Health Emergency is lifted. Officers CANNOT work once their Temporary Certification expires.
All Security Agency / Security Officer/ Private Detective / Investigator/ Bounty Hunter / Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Instructor / license and certification holders are encouraged to follow the guidelines set forth by the Center For Disease Control (CDC) with respect to "social distancing" and Governor Murphy’s Executive Order(s).
Though there may be delays, fingerprint facilities are OPEN and accepting appointments!
